General Duties

The primary duty of the County Treasurer is to receive all money due to the county, as well as money due to other subdivisions which the Treasurer is legally required to collect, and then disburse funds to the same subdivisions monthly.  In order to carry out this statutory responsibility, the County Treasurer bills and collects all real estate, personal and state assessed taxes in Custer County & disburses these collections to the proper political subdivisions. As of January 1, 2011 County Treasurers in Nebraska are responsible for providing all motor vehicles services, including titling and registering of motor vehicles, snowmobiles & watercraft if applicable. An additional area of responsibility is the issuance of driver’s licenses, commercial driver’s licenses, provisional driver’s licenses, learner’s permits, I.D. cards and school permits.
